Over the weekend, the sun was shining on a fabulous afternoon in Flint as the town came together to recognise and celebrate the one and only Jade Jones. The event was not only in recognition of Jade’s sporting achievements but also how she has been a positive role model and ambassador for our area and I was pleased to join Mayor Melly Buckley and Deputy Mayor Russ Davies as Jade was presented with an honorary key to the town – the first such award in forty years.
Earlier in the summer, I was pleased meet Michael Phillips from Mold Boxing Club. Michael set up the club just over a year ago to provide local young people with the same opportunities he had when he attended a boxing club growing up. The support and benefits he received inspired him to create a similar facility for young people in Mold and the surrounding area. It was brilliant to hear his enthusiasm and drive and the difference that the club is already making, alongside the partnerships it is developing. I look forward to keeping in touch and supporting the club in its work.
Back at the Denbigh & Flint Show last month, I met with DC Rachel Roberts to discuss the importance of staying safe online and protecting your data. To help keep everyone safe online, they recommended the website Have I Been Pwned – https://haveibeenpwned.com. This site allows you to check if your email addresses or phone numbers have been compromised in data breaches. By regularly monitoring information on this site, we can all take some steps to secure our accounts and reduce the risk of identity theft. It’s a practical tool that we can use to stay safe online and protect our personal data.
While there, the issue of dog attacks on livestock was also raised with me, so I am pleased to learn that the Welsh Labour Government, in collaboration with BlueCrossUK and the police, have set out further steps to address the problem. Recognising the distress these attacks cause, a new module on behaviour around livestock will be added to the existing responsible dog ownership course offered by Blue Cross starting in September. This initiative aims to educate dog owners and reduce such incidents. The course will be available to police across Wales for dog owners involved in livestock attacks.
And, finally, last week I was out in part of Northop for my latest street surgery. These sessions offer a opportunity for me to get out in different parts of the constituency and for residents to raise any issues from the comfort of their own homes. Following the surgery, I also got some more of my ‘Our Home, Our Health’ surveys out in the surrounding area. If you would like to respond to my health survey please complete the form in this link – https://www.hannahblythyn.cymru/our-home-our-health-survey. If you are unable to complete to form online please get in touch with my office to request a hardcopy version.
As always, if you would like advice and/or support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch on any of the following contact details – 52 High Street, Mold, Flintshire, on 01352 753464 or by email hannah.blythyn@senedd.wales. You can also keep up to date via my Facebook page – www.facebook.com/HannahBlythynForDelyn. Constituents are, of course, welcome to contact my office to arrange an appointment to see me, you don’t need to wait for an advice surgery.
